Jim Lauver, 57, of Shipshewana, Ind., died suddenly around 10:05 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, while on his usual morning walk near his home.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1955, in Puerto Rico to Rev. J. Paul and Lois (Swihart) Lauver.
On March 29, 1980, he married Jan Mast. She survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are his parents of LaGrange, Ind.; two daughters, Jessie (Mike) Whitten of Zionsville and Jenny Lauver of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Maggie Glaser of Carmel; three brothers, Paul (Marilyn) Lauver of Wolcottville, John (Patti) Lauver of Columbia, SC, and David (Pam) Lauver of Jupiter, Fla. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Lauver.
He was a mechanical engineer in research and development at Burr Oak Tool & Gauge in Sturgis, Mich.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Marion Mennonite Church, 4 ½ miles west of Howe on State Rd. 120. A private burial will be on Monday, Dec. 31, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 a.m. at Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana, with the Pastors Ron and Char Roth officiating. All are welcome to attend this Celebration of Life service.
