John Edwyn Clutter, age 84, of Three Rivers, and formerly of White Pigeon, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his home.
He was born May 10, 1928, in White Pigeon, a son of Max and Grace (Hagerty) Clutter.
John had been a lifetime resident of this area. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, John began work at Rental Linen Services and was there for more than 22 years. He then became a bus driver for Three Rivers Community Schools before retiring after 10 years. John was an honorary member of the
St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Three Rivers B.P.O.E. Lodge #1248 and a life member of Swartz-Van Fleet American Legion Post #138 in White Pigeon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, the late Gloria Ann (Lance) Clutter, who preceded him in 1997.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory eight children, John “Jack” (Patricia) of Sturgis, Michael (Debra) of Sturgis, Patrick “Pat” Clutter of Goshen, Ind., Trudy (Milton) Lynes of Three Rivers, James “Jim” (Orean) Shafer of White Pigeon, Robin Shafer of Three Rivers, Roger (Cindy) Shafer of Canada, and Jeff (Andrea) Clutter of Niles; a sister, Maxyne (Steve) Brewer of Constantine; a brother, Jim (Mary) Clutter of Offalin, Ill.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Karlene Kinker officiating.
Interment will be held in White Pigeon Township Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of the Department of the Army and Swartz-Van Fleet American Legion Post #138.
