William Fulcher Sisson, 88, of Three Rivers, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following an extended illness.
He was born on June 7, 1924 in Kalamazoo the son of Clare M. and Bess (Fulcher) Sisson. Graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, University of Michigan, School of Engineering. Resident of Three Rivers for the past 63 years with his summer home at Gun Lake.
Chief Engineer for Armstrong Machine Works in Three Rivers from 1949 until his retirement in 1987. Registered Professional Engineer; honorary life membership in ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
U.S. Army veteran, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II, EAME Theater Ribbon W/2.
Member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rotary, where he received the Paul Harris Award, Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Fluid Controls Institute, Boss of the Year. Member of the Committee to establish Glen Oaks Community College.
Married to Joanne K. Morton on Oct. 1, 1949 in Kalamazoo. She survives along with his daughter, Margaret A. “Peggy” (Eric) Roth of Libertyville, Ill.; son, William F. (Mary) Sisson of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Lauren Roth; nieces.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Dolan.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, with the Rev. Brenda Deily, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #170 of Three Rivers. Donations may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church; envelopes are available at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel which is in charge of arrangements.
