Jeff Zimont New Chairman Of DDA

Jeff Zimont has been named the new chairman of the Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority. Friday’s move brings an end to the 3 1/2-year chairmanship of Deb Grubbs. She indicated she preferred to not continue the role of chairperson but will serve as vice-chair. Zimont is a past president of the Constantine Public Schools Board of Education.

Charles W. (Bill) Mullins, age 73, of Burr Oak, passed away, Thursday, March 1, 2012, at his home. Apple iPads For Students In Sturgis

Parents of students who will be attending Sturgis High School in the fall were updated last week on the district’s decision to issue an iPad to all students. The Three Rivers Lady Wildcats basketball team fell short of returning to the state finals for a second consecutive year. Sturgis Journal No Longer Printing Here

The Sturgis Journal announced it is no longer printing its newspaper in Sturgis, as the job has been passed on to a sister company in Allegan. Saturday’s edition of the six-day-a-week newspaper was the final copy produced on the 38-year-old presses at the Journal’s John Street office. The Sturgis District Library has issued a notice advising patrons that it will be closed from Saturday through March 12, as new carpet is being installed.
