Amanda Louise Calloway, age 36, of Kalamazoo, died unexpectedly of a medical condition on Friday Jan. 4, 2013 at her home. She was born in Kalamazoo on Oct. 31, 1976 the daughter of David L. and Vicki (Phillips) Calloway. She was a 1994 graduate of Three Rivers High School and had attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was ordained in the Universal Church of Life. She especially enjoyed music and was a member of the Bell Book Canto singing group performing at area Renaissance fairs and festivals. Amanda was a free spirit who enjoyed needlepoint, painting, computer games, and was a Star Trek fan.
Amanda is survived by her fiance, Todd Shoemaker and his children, Raymond and Mychillia Shoemaker all of Kalamazoo; her mother, Vickie (Allen) Shaffer of Edon, Ohio; 2 sisters, Alicia Calloway of Coldwater and Elizabeth Calloway of Okemos; a brother, Allen Shaffer, Jr. of Coldwater. She was preceded in death by her father, David Calloway; a sister, Rebecca Lynn Calloway; maternal grandparents, Merle and Ruth Phillips; and paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Myrtle Calloway.
Cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 12, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A private interment ashes will take place in Parkville Cemetery. Memorials will be directed to the family. Condolence
