Man arrested for robbery

A day-long investigation Sunday led Sturgis Police to find and arrest a man who allegedly robbed the Admiral gas station on East Chicago Road around 5 a.m. Sunday.

According to a department media release, police developed a suspect by using previous arrest warrant investigations from earlier in the month. The suspect, who had displayed a knife to the employee before taking an undisclosed amount of cash, was identified by an employee of the gas station.

The 24-year-old Sturgis man was arrested around 11 p.m. Sunday after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 1200 block of Laura Drive. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was arrested after officers used a Taser to subdue him.

He was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail and a portion of the money was recovered, police said.
