Michael Nihart, 50

Michael Alan Nihart, 50, of White Pigeon, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 31, 1962, in Sturgis, a son of Herbert D. and Betty Jane (Airgood) Nihart. He had been a resident of the White Pigeon and Middlebury, Ind., area all his life. He was a graduate of White Pigeon High School in 1980 and Ferris State University with an associate degree in construction technology.

On Aug. 20, 1983, he married Gloria Ann Watson at First Presbyterian Church in White Pigeon.

He had been employed for more than 19 years as service manager at Hi-Tech Housing in Middlebury.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of White Pigeon, was a coach for football and men’s and women’s basketball, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria A. Nihart of White Pigeon; a daughter, Katie L. Nihart of Sherwood; a son, Leland M. Nihart of White Pigeon; four grandchildren; his parents, Herbert and Betty Nihart of White Pigeon; two brothers, Rick (Wanda) Nihart of White Pigeon, Gary (Leslie) Nihart of Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in White Pigeon, with Pastor Stephen T. Kaszar officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.

Donations may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or White Pigeon Fire and Rescue. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
