TR city clerk will resign

Lindsay Howes, Three Rivers city clerk, plans to announce her resignation from the position in order to take a job working for St. Joseph County.

A four-member interview committee has chosen Howes to serve as St. Joseph County grant writer, a job vacant since Marcia Saunders left the post in April 2011. Howes’ appointment to the job is contingent on action taken by the county board of commissioners at its 5 p.m. meeting Wednesday.

One of 16 candidates for the job, Howes will be charged with seeking and writing grants to benefit Sturgis and Three Rivers, as well as county departments that express an interest in pursuing grant opportunities.

The position, which is funded by the three governmental entities, will require Howes, a Three Rivers resident, to work in Centreville.

Howes, 32, has worked for the city of Three Rivers since 2003 and became clerk in 2007.
