Betty Bickle, 91

Betty Louise Bickle, age 91, of Centreville, passed away Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 at Sturgis Hospital. She was born in Battle Creek, on May 23, 1921, a daughter of the Harl J. and Fern (Burgett) Moore. Betty graduated from Athens High School in 1940. On June 2, 1940 Betty married Dan Bickle in Athens. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1998.

She was a member of the Michigan Poultry Breeders Association, Centreville Grange and Colon Grange # 215. She was also member and past President of the former Centreville Eloise Club. Betty was proud to be a mother and homemaker and had two sons serve in the US Navy. She worked as a court reporter for the Sturgis Journal, Three Rivers Commercial, Kalamazoo Gazette and a couple Indiana papers. Betty enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, camping, spending winters in Florida and playing Bingo. Betty especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter Edith (Charles) Large of Sturgis, sons Robert (Kay) Bickle of Centreville, Dennis (Karen) Bickle of Pinckney, MI, grandchildren Eric Large, Sturgis, Sandra (Gary) Wade, Jonesboro, IN, Dale (Sue) Large, Racine, WI, Candice (David) Swanwick, Centreville, Cameron Bickle, Centreville, Douglas Bickle, Royal Oak, MI and Ann Crawford, Pinckney, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where Religious Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 15th, with Reverend Dr. Karin Orr, Centreville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Centreville Soup Supper. On line messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
