Delton Bell, 74

Delton Bell, 74, of Mottville Township, White Pigeon, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Ind., following a short illness.

He was born March 14, 1938, in Lumberton, N.C., a son of Malcolm and Libby Mae (Locklear) Bell. He had been a resident of the Mottville area since 1955.

On Nov. 3, 1956, he married Phyllis C. Carper in LaGrange, Ind.

He was employed in the recreational vehicle industry for Stuart, Coachman, Topper and Squire, and had worked for ESI Meat Company. He was owner and operator of Bell and Sons Trash Removal for 27 years, retiring in 1999. His company is now part of Waste Management.

He was a member of the Lumbee Indian Tribe, Grandview Bend Campground in Howe, Ind., and Cass County Conservation Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and mushroom hunting. He was proud of his family and enjoyed taking care of his family.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis C. Bell of Mottville; two daughters, Judith Bronke of Elkhart, Ind., and Penny (David) Moore of Union; six sons, Joseph of Elkhart, Stanley of Three Rivers, Roger of Mottville, Mark (Pam) of Spanaway, Wash., Timothy (Mary) Bell of Sturgis and Clayton (Laura) Bell of White Pigeon; 41 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearline Bell of Sturgis and Jenave Rusk of Constantine; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Clay; four sisters, Bernice and Betty Bell, Mary Groves and Elizabeth Mullins; and three brothers, Earl, Ferman and Tilman Bell.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. A Native American Pipe Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Mottville Community Church, with Pastor David Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Mottville Township Cemetery.
