Girls basketball teams in Three Rivers and Constantine were among the local winners in the opening round of district action Monday.
In Class B, Three Rivers upped its record to 20-1 after topping league foe Paw Paw, 63-38, in Three Rivers.
History was made in the game, as junior Teagan Reeves became the school’s all-time leading girls’ scorer, surpassing Amy Newell. Her 27 points on the night also put her over 1,000 career points in her three years on the varsity squad..
Three Rivers will play again Wednesday, hosting Edwardsburg at 7:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Class C play, Constantine slipped by White Pigeon, 42-37 for its second win of the season. The Falcons move on to play Decatur Wednesday in Marcellus.
Also in a Class C contest, Centreville fell to Union City, 35-31.
In Class D, Colon was beaten by Athens, 72-31. The Magi finish the season with a 9-11 record.
Mendon, Sturgis, Howardsville Christian and Burr Oak drew first-round byes and will open post-season play Wednesday.
