Joe Whetstone,age 81, of Constantine, passed away Thursday, February 14th, 2013 at Three Rivers Health Hospital. He was born in Elkhart, IN on December 16, 1931 to John and Susie (Hostetler) Whetstone. Joe proudly served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. On November 23, 1957 he married Carol Larrance.
Joe was a Manager at Syndicate Systems in Middlebury, where he worked for 46 years retiring in 1998. He also owned the Dam Site Bait Shop in Constantine since 1980. Joe was a member of the Arthur E. Stears American Legion Post #223 of Constantine, VFW of Marcellus, and the 40 & 8. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, golfing, travel, and loved to get in the car and go.
Surviving are his wife Carol Whetstone, son Joe Whetstone, Jr. , daughter Denise (Steve) Jennings, son Ron (Kris) Whetstone, all of Constantine, grandchildren Matt Whetstone, Laura (Joe) Benka, Kelsey Jennings, Dustin Jennings, Eric Stears and Seth Stears. sister Millie Whetstone, brothers David Whetstone, and John Henry (Goldie) Whetstone, Jr. all of Middlebury, IN He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am at Trinity Missionary Church in Constantine. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
