Leola Geark, 88

Leola D. Geark, age 88, of Sturgis, passed away early Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, 2013, at her home.

She was born May 17, 1924, in Nebo, N.C., daughter of the late Sam and Lizzie (Cuthbertson) Dellinger.

Leola resided in Sturgis since 1952 coming Marion, N.C., and she was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School with the class of 1942.

She had been employed by the Kirsch Company and Wade Electric both in Sturgis, Continental Can Company in Three Rivers and Multiplex Corporation in Howe, Ind. In her later years she truly loved being a home health aide helping others.

Leola loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Billy) Cronkhite of Sturgis; two grandchildren, Christy (Jim) Gilbert of Greenbrier, Tenn., Billy (Laura) Cronkhite II of Bristol, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Gilbert, Billy Cronkhite III and Samantha Cronkhite; a sister, Corda Kaehr of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, Liburn, Raymond, Lonnie, Herbert, Oran and Fiburn Dellinger.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Leola D. Geark will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Rodger Moyer of the Sturgis Evangelical Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Adams Cemetery in rural Bronson.
