Louis E. Peterson, age 89, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, February 9th, 2013 at Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Three Rivers. He was born in Stanwood, Michigan on September 30, 1923, a son of Erick and Ellen (Torgeson) Peterson. Louis Served in the US Army during WW II serving in Europe. On May 9, 1953 Louis married Wilma H. Groeneveld in Grand Rapids. He worked as a precision machinist at Lear Ziegler Aeronautical Corp. in Grand Rapids for 34 years retiring in 1981. Louis also owned and operated his farm in Jamestown, MI from 1955 to 1981. Louis was a member of Centreville Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Wilma Peterson, Sturgis, daughters Shelley Stiehl of Lowell, MI, Lynne Johnson of White Pigeon, son Eric Peterson of Centreville, grandchildren Travis Stiehl of Lowell, Adam Peterson, Constantine, Aaron Peterson, Bristol, IN, Teresa Peterson, Charlotte, N.C., Bradley Johnson, Constantine, Sheena Johnson, Three Rivers, Great Grandchildren TaShaun Candio, Amar Peterson, Dalton Johnson, Logan Johnson and Isabella Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harvey Peterson and sisters Loretta Hansen Beatrice Peterson and Bernice Peterson.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Religious Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 12th, at the Centreville Baptist Church with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
