More than a dozen entries in the second White Pigeon snowman-making contest were recognized and awarded during a program Sunday.
Participants who helped make the event a success chose from a variety of snowman-themed prizes. Organized by Shireen Cline, the snowman-making contest awarded prizes for a variety of categories, including best use of snow, most creative, funniest, sports-minded snowmen, snowman spirit and occupation snowmen, which was bestowed to the creators of a snowman dressed as a doctor.
The awards program took place at Wade Park. Cline said she intends to try staging a follow-up event next year.
Attempts to have a contest in 2011 and 2012 did not succeed because of difficult snow conditions following the inaugural competition in 2010.
