Steve Mann, 57

Steven Arthur Mann, age 57, of Kalamazoo, passed away Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2013, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

He was born March 15, 1955, in Sturgis, a son of the late Edward Arthur and Margaret A. (Smith) Mann.

Steve resided in Kalamazoo since 1979. His early life was lived in Sturgis and he was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1973.

Steve’s entire working life was spent in the hardware business. While still a student at Sturgis High School, he was hired to stock the shelves of the new Coast to Coast hardware store in Sturgis, now known as Cottin’s Hardware. After moving to Kalamazoo, he worked at several hardware stores his last employment being with Home Depot.

He was a member of Sturgis Bible Chapel and enjoyed music, movies and coin collecting. Steve had a true love of dogs especially his German shepherds.

He is survived by two sisters, Dottie (Gary) Bowersox and Susan Vaughn, both of Sturgis; two brothers, E. Duane (Elizabeth) Mann of Howe, Ind., and Samuel A. Mann of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Roger Vaughn.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Steven A. Mann will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Wisler will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
