Robert M. “Bob” McElmurry, age 55, of Mason, and formerly of Sturgis, passed peacefully into the loving arms of God on March 10, 2013, with his loving wife and children by his side.
He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Lansing to Robert L. and Mary L. (Whiting) McElmurry, grew up in Sturgis, and was a graduate of Western Michigan University.
Bob was a hospital administrator at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte, Mason Athletic Booster treasurer and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband and father who loved coaching and spending time with his children.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Lee Ann (Myers) McElmurry; a daughter, Katie of Mason; three sons, Matt (Emily), Eric and Kevin, all of Mason; four sisters, Pat (Tom) Read, Pam (Butch) Quirin, Polly (Ken) Jackson and Peggy (Bill) Davis; his father and mother-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and co-workers.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing, Mason, with the Rev. Kusitino Cobona officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; and from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
The family wishes to thank all of those who have supported Bob and his family through his illness. All the love, support and prayers are a true blessing.
