Donna Shugars, 73

Mrs. Donna Marie Shugars, age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Hartford, MI. on Jan. 25, 1940 the daughter of Allen R. and Mildred L. (Chapel) Smith.

Mrs. Shugars has been a resident of Three Rivers since 1966 where she and her husband Wayne worked the family farm and raised their three children. Donna was well known for her excellent macaroni and potato salad, which was always plentiful at family gatherings. She enjoyed before taking ill working in her flower garden at her Baldwin lake home, where she and Wayne and the family enjoyed many summers. She also enjoyed playing bingo where she made many friends and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Donna’s greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild and the time they shared making wonderful memories together.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Lou Smith and one brother, Bill Smith.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Wayne Shugars, of Three Rivers, whom she married on July 5, 1958. Three children, Cindy (Mike) Ripke, of Three Rivers, Michael (Lisa) Shugars, of Three Rivers, and Jeff Shugars, of Baldwin, MI.; one brother, Robert (Bonnie) Smith, of Decatur, MI.; three grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Osborn, Dusty (Amy Rogers and her daughter Elizabeth) Shugars, and Shelby Curley; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Marie Osborn.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Miller officiating.

Interment will be held at Poe Cemetery, Newberg Twp., MI.
