Leona Ferrell, 95

Leona M. Ferrell of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Three Rivers, Mich., was called home by the Lord on March 2, 2013.

She was born Sept. 10, 1917, to Martha and William Templin in Sherman Township, Sturgis, Mich.

She graduated from Centreville High School in 1935 then added a year at University of Michigan Satellite majoring in math. After moving to Three Rivers she married Walter C. Ferrell Jr in 1941 who with his father owned the Sunshine Dairy. He preceded her in death in 1997.

They had one son, Thomas who survives; along with granddaughters Sarah and Whitney; a sister, Vivian (Templin) Fry; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Clendenen Templin; two sisters, Frances in infancy and Roma (Templin) Mayer.

Leona attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Three Rivers where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She was a district manager for Avon Products for 25 years, retiring in 1980. While enjoying retirement in Florida, Leona attended Peace Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte and was active in the Lutheran Aid Society. Interment has taken place.
