The first of two suspects accused of murdering a 74-year-old Kalamazoo antiques dealer last summer has been sentenced to a mandatory term of life in prison without chance of parole. A Kalamazoo County Circuit Court jury in February convicted 21-year old Antonio Livingston of first-degree murder, felony murder, assault with intent to rob and first-degree home invasion. Livingston and 52-year old John Aguilar were accused of forcing their way into Robert Medema’s home on August 10th and beating him to death with a baseball bat. Investigators say the pair had seen the victim a few weeks earlier carrying a large amount of cash and began planning the robbery then. Aguilar is scheduled to stand trial next month. (MRN)
