Betty Jane Galbreth, age 89, of Jones, MI. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 1, 2013 at her home. She was born on Dec. 5, 1923 in Elkhart, IN. the daughter of the late Adolph and Freida (Blessing) Shelly.
Mrs. Galbreth graduated from Elkhart High School in 1942. Shortly after she married Mr. Richard Galbreth, who passed in 1997 and together they made their home in Elkhart where Betty was employed at Martin Band Instrument and later Mor/Ryde where she retired to be a homemaker and serve her church and community.
Betty and Richard moved to Jones in the early 70’s and were members of Jones United Methodist Church where Betty was past treasurer. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Betty was a vibrant spirit who loved to dance, fish, and at age 84 swam across Driskel Lake. Betty’s greatest love was family and friends who will miss her greatly.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, James R. Galbreth
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one daughter, Shelly A. (Wilbur) Seager; one son, Thomas Bert (Julia) Galbreth; daughter in-law, Carol Galbreth; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Jacquelyn) Galbreth, Jenny (Nick) Recchio, Becky(Doug Comer) Seager, Eric (Karen) Seager, Tony(Ann) Black, Carey (Corey) Chesser, and Andy Galbreth; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Hohner Funeral Home 1004 Arnold St; Three Rivers, MI 49093 with Rev. Carolyn Fisher officiating.
Interment will be held in Poe Cemetery, Newberg Twp., MI.
