Bobbi Whitely, 50

Bobbi Jo Whitely, 50, of Olivet, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Bobbi was born June 13, 1962, in Hastings, a daughter of Bob and Mary Jo (Benedict) Brimmer.

She graduated Charlotte High School with the class of 1980 before attending Michigan State University for communications. While tending bar at the Charlotte Country Club in the summer between school, she met a young greenskeeper, Bill Whitely. The two married on Aug. 28, 1982. They lived in Charlotte a few years before moving to Sturgis, where she worked for Jack Smith and Associates, and they started their family.

In 1999, they returned to Charlotte and settled in Olivet. Bobbi worked at Eye Care Associates since 2000. Bobbi loved the outdoors and MSU sports, but above all, she loved following her sons, Brett and Brendan, in their sporting events and school activities.

Bobbi is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bill Whitely; two sons, Brett and Brendan; her parents, Bob and Mary Jo Brimmer; three sisters, Patti Bondy, Sherri (Gary) Taylor and Candi McMickle; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Mary and Robert, who died at birth.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Olivet Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jack Brown officiating, with gathering time from noon-1 p.m. prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet High School in care of the Olivet Baseball program.
