David A. Pant Sr., age 62, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Sturgis, a son of Raymond and Martha (Krontz) Pant.
David had been a resident of the Sturgis and Burr Oak area most of his life and was a graduate of Sturgis High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama City, Panama.
In June 1975, he married Earnestina Hernandez.
He was an owner/operator truck driver until his health forced him to retire. He enjoyed fishing, drag racing, watching and playing baseball, and computers and guns.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Earnestina; a son, David Allen Pant Jr. of Burr Oak; stepdaughters Denia Zierle of Sturgis and Olga (Wayne) Davis of Orland, Ind.; a stepson, Rick “Papi” Hernandez of Burr Oak; step-grandchildren Charles Zierle, Amanda Zierle, Jessica Johnson, Brandon Ruder, and Brieana Ruder; three step-great-grandchildren; his mother, Martha Pant of Sturgis; three brothers, Raymond, Jim and Dan Pant; and four sisters, Dorothy Eichorn, Pam Johnson, Ruth Ferrier and Margaret Flowers.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a stepson, Israel.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Cremation will follow the services.
