Janice Marie (Weitting) Keeslar, 69, passed on early Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving and devoted children.
She was a lifelong resident of Sturgis and the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence and Charlotte (Dunham) Weitting.
Janice was a dedicated caseworker for the Family Independence Agency and especially enjoyed working with the elderly. She retired at age 62 from the agency with more than 30 years of service.
Janice had a passion for photography, scrapbooking, painting and loved to travel. After retirement she was able to fulfill her dreams of traveling aboard. Some of her travels included Ireland, Germany, London, Scotland and the Holy Lands. Her most treasured travels, though, were with her children and grandchildren right here in the USA, where she was able to take great joy in observing her grandchildren experience numerous new adventures. We will all miss her sense of humor, beautiful smile, abundantly generous spirit, but above all her gentle and tender presence in our daily lives. She will live forever in our hearts.
She is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Steve) Hagadorn of Sturgis; a son, David (Amy) Keeslar of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Andrew Richards, Alexandra Richards, Alyssa Richards, Aaron Richards, Skye Keeslar and Sierra Keeslar; a sister, Linda Streeter of Centreville; a brother, Donald (Linda) Weitting of Sturgis; as well as nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Janice M. Keeslar will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Robert Keim will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The family will hold a luncheon following interment at Fish Lake Bible Chapel, 25108 Banker Road, Sturgis.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Janice’s memory consider Reverence Hospice, 348 N. Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
