Sonny Imburgia, 77

Jasper “Sonny” Imburgia, age 77, of White Pigeon, passed away Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 18, 1935, a son of Frank and Marie (Dziurgot) Imburgia. Sonny graduated from St. Phillip High School in Chicago and later served overseas in the US Army from 1958 – 1960. On April 24, 1965 he married Anna Raimondi in Chicago, IL.

Sonny worked in the produce department at National T Food Store in Chicago, IL for 27 years. He had also worked at Chicago Waters Market, Marion Bakery, Pepper Construction, and finally at Meijer in Three Rivers before retiring in 2008. Sonny was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, baseball, basketball and was a Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving Sonny are his wife Anna Imburgia of White Pigeon, daughter Michelina Imburgia of Mesa, AZ, son Joseph Imburgia of Lockport, IL, granddaughter Alyssa N. Imburgia of Plainfield, IL, grandson Jacob Mullenix of White Pigeon, brother Robert Imburgia of Orland Park, IL, and niece Sharon (Suresh) Advani of River Forest, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends will be received Monday at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine from 2-4 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m., visitation will continue until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, White Pigeon, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd, with Father German Perez-Diaz officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
