Woman tries to cash fraudulent check

A woman attempting to cash a fraudulent check in Three Rivers eluded police on two occasions and remains at large.

Three Rivers Police officials said the woman attempted to cash the fake check late Thursday at a local bank. A teller recognized the check was not real and identification she presented was fraudulent, and attempted to stall the woman in a drive-thru lane. The suspect fled the scene, however, as police arrived on location.

She eluded Three Rivers police and ended up taking Hoffman Road to M-60. She was successful in avoiding Vicksburg police after they spotted her on South 24th Street in southern Kalamazoo County. The vehicle was found abandoned at a Vicksburg residence.

The woman is described as being between 20 to 30 years old, and is believed to be part of a larger ring whose members have been attempting to cash fake checks in neighboring counties, police said.
