Arrest for assault and leaving the scene

An argument between a father and his son resulted in the arrest of a Sturgis man over the weekend.

According to Sturgis police, officers were called around 6 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Ilene and Griffith streets regarding a collision between two vehicles.

Witnesses told police the father and son collided in the roadway and, upon exiting their vehicles, engaged in a heated discussion. As the son drove away, his vehicle struck his father.

Police said the son was arrested after he returned later to his residence. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and assault.

The names and ages of the two men were not disclosed in a department media release.
