Glendora Russell, 88

Glendora M. Russell, age 88, of Colon, passed away, early Saturday morning at Thurston Woods Village, in Sturgis.

Glendora was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Kalamazoo, a daughter to the late Martin and Ecco (Rench) Johnson.

On June 14, 1947, she married Lester W. Russell in Athens. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1998.

Glendora had lived in rural Matteson Township most of her adult life, where she owned and operated an antique and gift shop for over 40 years, moving to her home on Palmer Lake in 1986.

She is survived by her son, Denny E. (Jan) Russell of Colon; two daughters, Susan (Rex) Terry of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Nancy (Lynn) Houck of Grand Ledge; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Johnson of Sherwood; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Marty Russell; and a brother, Gene Johnson.

There will be no visitations. Private funeral services will take place at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Matteson Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Glendora to the Colon Community Park. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
