Halene I. (Mickie) Schulthies, 79, of Fish Lake in White Pigeon, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, following a short illness.
She was born Nov. 5, 1933, in a log cabin in White Cloud County, Twin Lakes, Mich., the child of Hale and Geraldine (Carr) Wolcott.
She was a resident of the White Pigeon area since 1971, coming from Three Rivers, Mich., and was a Three Rivers High School graduate in 1952.
On Jan. 26, 1952, she married Arthur D. (Dean) Schulthies in Angola, Ind. He died Feb. 13, 1991.
She was employed at the Kirsch Company in Sturgis for 26 years, retiring in 1994 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of White Pigeon, the Three Rivers Bowling League, a volunteer for Sturgis Hospice, a White Pigeon bowling league members and enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and feeding her birds. She was a member of the Constantine, Mich., American Legion Auxillary.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra (Tom) Tekiele of Flushing, Mich. and April Armstrong of Constantine; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Weber of Sturgis; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Gordon Wolcott and two sisters, Aletta Ream and Iola Wester.
Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Scott Manning, of the White Pigeon First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
