Shirley Buehrer, 76

Shirley D. Buehrer, 76, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio, where she had been a resident. Shirley was born Dec. 29, 1936 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Leslie and Cora D. Spooner. She was then adopted by her grandparents, Charlie R. and Eva Young. She was a graduate of Three Rivers High School. She married John Buehrer on Dec. 22, 1959, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1993. Shirley worked at Hardee’s Restaurant. She had also worked in the mail room at the Bryan Times, and at Brownies Restaurant. Shirley also served as a crossing guard at Bryan High School. She was a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren as well as the Sweet Adelines.

Surviving is her daughter, Shianna Buehrer of Bryan, Ohio; her sister, Larita Penn of Independence, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Buehrer of Edgerton, Ohio; one great-niece, Sandy Gigax of Archbold, Ohio as well as her friend, Roberta Dell of Bryan, Ohio.

Visitation for Shirley D. Buehrer will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home – Greenisen Chapel, 225 E. High Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services for Shirley will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 in the funeral home with Pastors Nancy Berkheiser and Dorothy Ritchey-Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio.
