Throwing rocks at MDOT grader

State police fielded a complaint of a home owner throwing rocks at passing motorists around 2 p.m. Thursday in Sturgis Township.

According to a media release, a Michigan Department of Transportation employee was grading the shoulder along westbound U.S. 12 near White School Road when the homeowner was seen throwing rocks. At least two vehicles, the MDOT grader and a Chevrolet pickup, were struck and damaged by rocks.

The matter remains under investigation; details regarding whether the suspect was cited were not included in the media release.
