Traffic accident at a red light

Two Kalamazoo residents were treated for minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Three Rivers.

Michigan State Police investigators said Gysbertus Greve, age 60 and his wife, Debra, 52, were in a southbound vehicle on U.S. 131 when it slowed for a traffic signal turning red at Millard Street.

A semi-tractor trailer driven by 36-year-old Nathaniel Howell, of Battle Creek, was unable to stop in time and his rig rear-ended the Greve’s minivan. The Greves were treated at Three Rivers Health for minor injuries.

Howell was cited for failure to stop within a safe distance.
