Barbara D. (Hochstetler) Yoder, age 91, of Nottawa Road, Sturgis, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at her home after several months of failing health.
Barbara was born Oct. 6, 1921, in LaGrange, Ind., a daughter of the late Daniel and Anna (Wickey) Hochstetler.
On Nov. 2, 1941, she married Moses D. Yoder Sr. in Centreville. He preceded her in death June 20, 2003.
Barbara had made her home in the Nottawa area for the past 75 years. She was a member of the Pilgrim Fellowship Church in Nottawa.
Barbara loved time spent with her family and enjoyed birds, flowers and gardening.
She is survived by five children, Moses Jr. (Barbara Jean) Yoder, Raymond (Edith) Yoder of Centreville, Mary Ellen Geigley of Sturgis, Anna Mae (Freeman Fritz) Miller of Millersburg, Ind., and John David (Treva) Yoder of Centreville; special family friends Lester (Marilyn) Miller of Peru, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Ervin (Polly) Hochstetler, Dan (Edna) Hochstetler and John (Katie) Hochstetler; two sisters, Mary Alice Miller and Edna (Merle) Christner; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Yoder and his wife, Mary Louise; an infant son, Leroy Yoder; a son-in-law, Glen Geigley; a brother, Amos Hochstetler; and a number of great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Calvary Chapel, 66969 N. Centreville Road, Sturgis, and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will then take place at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, with Pastors Jon Yoder, John Miller, Delbert Miller and John David Yoder officiating. Burial will follow at the Pilgrim Fellowship Cemetery in Nottawa.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Barbara to the Nottawa Christian School. Envelopes will be available at the church or Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
