Honore Jones, 66

Honore Laura (Roberts) Jones, age 66, of Elkhart (Formerly of Constantine), passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Hospice House in Elkhart, IN. She was born in Three Rivers, MI on May 4, 1947, a daughter of Tom and Fern (Reardon) Roberts. Honore fought a courageous, lengthy, forty-two year battle with cancer.

Honore graduated from Constantine High School, Carter Secretarial School, and earned an Associate of Business Degree from Glen Oaks Community College.

Honore had worked for the Constantine and Three Rivers newspapers, Glen Oaks Community College, St. Joseph County Cancer Society, volunteered at the Salvation Army and was co-owner of Indy Jones Crafts & Treasures. She held various leadership positions in Cub Scouts, Extension Homemakers and the Seventh Day Adventist Church, of which she was a member.

Honore always had a kind word and a giving spirit for others. She made and sent items to the armed forces over seas and to people less fortunate than her. She spent many hours designing and making unique quilts for children in both her family and extended family.

She is survived by her husband Steven Jones, Elkhart, sons Ted (Kelly) Keckler, South Bend, IN, Tim (Chris) Keckler, Elkhart, stepdaughters Angela Jones, Goshen, Stephanie (Mike) Meyers, Ossian, IN, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, brother Frederick Paul (Vicky) Roberts, sisters Marjorie (Robin) Baker, Linda (Matt) Lori, all of Constantine, brother-in-law Art Bowman, Sturgis, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom E. Roberts, and sister Merry Bowman.

Relatives and friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Retired Pastor Harry Hartmann will conduct religious services on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Eley Funeral Home. Interment will be in Constantine Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Silver Spoons in White Pigeon. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hospice House of Elkhart.
