James W. Roberts, age 77, of Three Rivers passed away after a short stay at Heartland Healthcare Center on Monday June 10, 2013. Jim was born on July 28, 1935 in Three Rivers, MI the son of Bill and Thelma(Meyer)Roberts.
Jim served two years in the U.S. Army and attended Western Michigan University and Eastern Tennessee State. He was united in marriage on November 10, 1958 to Jeanette Baum and raised five children. Jim retired from Operating Engineers Union #324 in 1990 and was currently employed with Embridge. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post # 170, Elks B.P.O.E. #1248, Moose Lodge #474, Three Rivers Eagles #2303, and was also a 33 Degree Mason.
Jim spent his winters in Odessa, FL. He enjoyed many outdoor hobbies such as fishing, trapshooting, and golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards with many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Jeep, and Jack Roberts, and one daughter, Lisa Roberts in 1990.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, daughters, Stacy Roberts, Kim(Bill Hires)McCurdy, and Penny Roberts; son, James Roberts, Jr.; brother, Buck Roberts, ; sister, Betty Hackenberg, ; grandchildren, Courtney and Shawn McCurdy, Tyler Kiewiet, Lisa Lyn and Cassidy Jo Parsons, and Matt and Jason Hires.
The family will receive friends and family from 12:00 noon until time of services at 2:00p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Hohner Funeral Home. Interment of cremains will be held at Riverside Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #170.
