Michael Salisbury, 77

Michael Salisbury, 77, of Constantine, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born in Mishawaka, Ind. on July 5, 1935 to Lewis and Alice (Colley) Salisbury, and lived in the White Pigeon and Constantine area since 1943. A graduate of White Pigeon High School, he attended Glen Oaks Community College for one year. He was in the US Navy from 1954-1962 serving on ships in Boston and Norfolk; he attained the rank of YNT2. He was a Korean War veteran.

He married Alice M. Rentfrow on Feb. 14, 1959 in Three Rivers.

He was employed by Gray Brothers Inc. in White Pigeon for 21 years, retiring in 1998.

While in high school he participated in all sports and in various clubs. He enjoyed bowling, biking, walking, puzzling and was an avid reader. He collected model trains, planes and cars. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and just enjoying retirement with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Alice M. Salisbury; four sons, Jack (Brenda) Rentfrow, Dennis (Diane) Rentfrow, Mark (Bonnie) Salisbury and Brian (Ami) Salisbury; two daughters, Rhonda Oldenburg and Theresa (Douglas) Kuhlman; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lynn Salisbury, John (Janet) Salisbury, Tom Salisbury and Martin (Linda) Salisbury; four sisters, Joyce Kenney, Susan Fergison, Nancy McFall and Holly (Jim) Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifton Salisbury and Lee Salisbury; sister, Mary Lou Ferm; granddaughter, Amy Conrad.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 29 from 10-11 a.m. at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Manning of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Constantine Township Cemetery with full military rites. Donations may be directed to the American Heart Association or cancer research; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
