Norm Collins 76

Norman E. Collins, 76, formerly of Sturgis, died peacefully on Feb. 4, 2013 in Venice, Fla. He was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Lancaster, N.Y.

Norm is survived by his wife, Anne, married 53 years; three daughters, Susan (Frank) DiLeonardo of Chicago, Lori (Craig) Wildasin of Venice, Fla. and Cynthia (Jason) Parker of Cedar Springs; six grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke and Jacob Wildasin; Kierstin, Blake and Brinkley Parker; one brother, Don (Carol) Nauert of Lancaster, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norm was a PGA golf professional, recognized for his teaching and playing abilities. He was employed as golf professional at Klinger Lake Country Club for 25 years, beginning in 1961. Klinger Lake years were followed by 12 years as pro-manager at Sauganash Country Club, Three Rivers, followed by 10 years as owner-operator of Norm’s Golf Center in Portage. In 2010 Norm was honored by the PGA for 50 years of membership and service to the golf industry.

A Celebration of the Life of Norm Collins will be held Saturday afternoon, June 22, at 3 p.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 110 S. Clay St., Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church of Sturgis, Tidewell Hospice of Venice, Fla., or a charity of your choice.
