A Sturgis couple was treated at Three Rivers Health after they were involved in a one-vehicle accident over the weekend in Fabius Township.

According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, William Rackley, 47, lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Dutch Settlement Road. His vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection of Abbey Road.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday.
Rackley told police he was unfamiliar with the area and was on his way home from Kalamazoo.

He and his wife, Rebecca Rackley, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

This case is still open pending blood-alcohol test results. The driver did admit to alcohol use prior to the accident, deputies said.
