Bob Kosakowski, 78

Robert G. Kosakowski, age 78, of Colon, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater.

Bob was born in Chicago, a son of the late Tom and Mary (Opolski) Repinski.

On Jan. 2, 1954, he married Phyllis Machalk in Daggett.

Bob graduated from Stephenson High School in Stephenson.

He had made his home in Colon for the past 23 years, coming from Calumet City, Ill.

Bob had worked 34 years for Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind., retiring in 1987.

He loved to fish and hunt.

Bob is survived by his wife Phyllis, of Colon; children Rodney (Diane) Kosakowski of Calumet City, Ill., Michael (Marcy Wood) Kosakowski of Colon and Alan (Diane) Kosakowski of Chesterton, Ind.; Wade Kosakowski of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Marie, Michael, Matthew, M.J., Anne, David and Jacob; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat- grandchildren; a sister, Elinor (Steve) Miller of Carney; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Colon. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be held at 12:30 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Cremation will then take place.

If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Bob to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Boys Town. Envelopes will be available at the church or Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
