Emma Yoder, 97

Emma Yoder, age 97, of Mendon, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at her home.

She was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Morocco, Ind., a daughter of Menno J. and Amanda (Hochstetler) Anderson.

On Nov. 7, 1937, she married Jess Hochstetler. He died May 10, 1980. On May 2, 1982, Emma married Levi B. Yoder. He died May 12, 1989.

Emma was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

She is survived by three stepdaughters, Mary Lou Schlabach of Centreville, Ida Sue Borkholder of Sturgis and Ruth Ann (Mose) Troyer of Mendon; three sisters, Clara Hochstetler and Tillie (Bob) Shank, both of Goshen, Ind., and Rosa Lohr of Kentland, Ind.; a brother, Andrew (Marilyn) Anderson of Kouts, Ind.; and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; three sisters, Fannie Kaufman, Sarah Harshberger and Millie Miller; and two brothers, Henry and Rudolph Anderson.

Visitation will begin Wednesday evening at Emma’s home, located at 27990 Spring Creek Road, Mendon, and will continue all day Thursday, July 4.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Emma’s home, with Amish Home Ministry officiating. Burial will take place later Friday afternoon in Miller-Thomas Cemetery near Goshen, Ind.
