James Smith, 58

James Robin Smith, 58, of White Pigeon, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, after a short illness.

He was born May 11, 1955, in South Bend, Ind., a son of Bruce A. and Janet F. (Hall) Smith. He had been a resident of White Pigeon since October of 2011, coming from Elkhart, Ind.

On Oct. 21, 1989, he married Patrice J. Tevernier in Elkhart, Ind.

He was employed as a forklift driver in wood manufacturing.

He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bristol, Ind., and Loyal Order of the Moose of Elkhart. He enjoyed music.

Surviving are his wife, Patrice J. Smith of White Pigeon; his mother, Janet F. Myers of Middlebury, Ind.; his father, Bruce A. Smith of Edwardsburg; three sisters, Cindy (Gary) Keck of Bristol, Ind., Stacey (Rick) VanKlarvern of Granger, Ind., and Laura Sailor of Elkhart; a brother, Michael (Renee) Smith of Elkhart; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and aunts and uncles.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wilbur Brandli officiating. Cremation will follow services. Donations may be directed to Animal Rescue Fund.
