Man apprehended

Schoolcraft Police chief Bryan Campbell said a 33-year-old Jackson County man was apprehended after breaking into Bud’s Bar earlier this week.

Campbell said the department at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 200 block of North Grand Street.

Police found forced entry at the back of the business. Within a few minutes of the arrival of a Vicksburg Police officer, the suspect fled on foot out of the front of the building.

Officers with the Portage Department of Public Safety, Vicksburg Police and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s office set up a perimeter in the area where the suspect was last scene. A tracking dog with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s office located the suspect and he was taken into custody.

Charges against the Grass Lake man are pending following a review by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors office.
