Ronald G. “Ron” Walker, Jr., age 73 died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Muskegon, MI on July 9, 1940 the son of Ronald G. and Bernice (Barryman) Walker. He graduated from Ravenna High School with the class of 1958 and served briefly in the U.S. Navy. Ron was married to Ellen Spoelman in Muskegon on Sep. 1, 1961. They have resided in Mendon since1974. Ron worked at Eaton Manufacturing in Kalamazoo, and later at General Motors and American Axel in Three Rivers. In his spare time he enjoyed drag racing and won the Popular Hot Rod Meet at Martin Drag-strip in 1991.
Ron is survived by his wife, Ellen; two children, Mike (Molly) Walker of Kalamazoo, and Denise Walker of Sturgis; four grandchildren, Ross Miller, Lukas Miller, Ty Walker, and Levi Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marian Doney.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday July 12, 2013 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. There will be no funeral, and a private interment of ashes will take place later.
