Two Indiana residents were arrested on drug-related charges following their arrest earlier this week in Constantine Township.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call around 2 a.m. Monday in the area of New England Road, where a blue pickup truck had been spotted in the area of a possible larceny attempt.
Contact with the occupants was made by residents, and once authorities were contacted, the occupants of the vehicle drove off but were followed at a safe distance by the callers.
The suspect vehicle eventually pulled off the roadway and stopped behind a residence on Beers Road. Upon arrival of the deputies, the occupants of the truck had fled on foot.
A K-9 unit out of Sturgis was contacted and was able to track the suspects into a nearby field where they were apprehended. A Shipshewana man and a woman from Middlebury were arrested.
