Breaking-and-entering incident

Two of three people involved in a breaking-and-entering incident in downtown Sturgis were arrested early Sunday after they attempted to flee from officers.

According to the Sturgis Police Department, a 22-year-old Sturgis man and a 15-year-old male were arrested after officers were called at 2 a.m. Sunday to the 100 block of West Chicago Road in response to a sound of broken glass.

Officers noticed three people carrying store bags, but the trio fled a rear entrance.

A 17-year-old male who eluded police was identified and is being sought by police.

The 22-year-old man was charged with burglary, resisting arrest and destruction of property. The 15-year-old was turned over to the custody of his parents and faces the same charges.
