John Ronald Rupert, age 57, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Saturday morning August 3, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 4, 1955 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky son of Jack and Julie (Coleman) Rupert.
John was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1974.
He was employed by Viking Trailers in Centreville for many years.
John was a talented musician and many will miss hearing him play his guitar and singing. He also enjoyed watching movies and had a true love of lighthouses. He recently went on a road trip with his brother Jack to visit several lighthouses throughout Michigan.
He is survived by his parents: Jack and Julie Rupert of Sturgis; one sister: Cindi Rupert Goodwin of Sturgis; two brothers: Jack (Carla) Rupert of Portage and David (Tracy) Rupert of Sturgis; four nephews: Mike (Katie) Rupert, Mark Rupert, Cole Rupert and Nick Ankney; two nieces: Natalie (Scott) Boland and Alex Rupert; several great nieces and nephews including: Randi Boland and John’s best friends to the end: Keith and Judy Lauseng of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother: Richard “Rick” Rupert.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends and family to remember and celebrate the life of John Rupert will be held from 1:00 ~ 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331.
