Kenneth Lyle Miller, age 92, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, 2013, at Skaggs Assisted Living in Burr Oak.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Burr Oak, a son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Bush) Miller.
Kenneth was a lifelong Burr Oak resident.
On Feb. 21, 1952, he married Margaret Sarah Friend in Angola, Ind. She died Jan. 4, 2011.
He retired from Burr Oak Tool & Gauge Company in Sturgis following several years of dedicated employment. He also was a self-employed house painter.
Kenneth was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved going for drives.
He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Tomlinson of Sturgis, Betty (James) Riley of Lavaca, Ark., and Vicky Ryan of Orland, Ind.; a son, Michael (Monica) Miller of Burr Oak; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Miller of Burr Oak and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Florence Flowers; and seven brothers, Clyde, Gene, Junior, Vernon, Harold, Norman and Floyde Miller.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow visitation. Private burial of the ashes will take place at a later date at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
