Langley Covered Bridge closed

The Langley Covered Bridge will be closed  through Sunday for a Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event Saturday night.

Chris Minger, St. Joseph County Road Commission project manager, said the bridge was originally slated to remain closed next week for deck repairs. Minger said the plan has been moved to a later date, however, as the commission continues its focus on chip-and-seal work throughout the county.

Traffic will be detoured to Angevine Road, to the east of Covered Bridge Road.

He said the deck work will take place later this year.

The chamber is hosting an evening of fine dining inside the covered bridge 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The $60-per-person fundraiser will include a photo portrait and pontoon-boat rides.

Tickets may be purchased through the chamber, at 278-8193.
