Rowe offered job

A retired Parchment School District administrator with professional ties to Three Rivers has been offered the job of superintendent and principal at Nottawa School.

Nottawa Community School Board of Education members voted 4-to-1 Tuesday to offer the $41,000-a-year post to Ruth Rowe.

Rowe, whose work history includes curriculum-related duties at Three Rivers Community Schools, would replace Marcia Griffin. The 69-year-old Griffin said she would like to retire after holding down the dual administrative post for almost 20 years.

Board members said Rowe’s hiring is contingent on her credentials and whether she is certified to serve as superintendent.

About half of Nottawa School’s 135 students are from the area’s Amish community. Board member Keith Borgert said cast the lone dissenting vote on the motion. He said the position should be filled by someone either internally or locally who knows the school and the Amish community.
