Bob Burnham Jr., 72

Robert Frank Burnham Jr., 72, of Burr Oak, passed away Sept. 24, 2013, in Battle Creek, after a long battle with rehab following a stroke.

Bob was born April 17, 1941, in Eustis, Fla. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and in 1965 moved to Burr Oak, where he made many lifelong friends and neighbors. He moved to Kalamazoo in 2009, after an illness, to be closer to family. He continued to make many friends with his sense of humor, generosity and his ever-present smile.

Bob worked as a tool and die maker, research and development, and his favorite job, electrician, before retiring in 1996. After retirement, he enjoyed bartering for electrical jobs, fishing, babysitting his grandchildren and searching the state for the best-prepared walleye.

Bob is survived by two sisters, Helen and Jean; his son Mike; and daughters Lynne and Vicki.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; and two sisters, Doris and Thelma, in Massachusetts.

Bob requested no visitation, memorial or services. A grave marker will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society in Schoolcraft.
